Spring 07

Welcome to our sping update. Here is a picture of some of the sping bulbs that grew in our front yard.
This is a picture of Brittany singing in her D.A.R.E. graduation program for their school. Brittany is behind the girl with the pink hair. The graduation took place on May 5, 2007

Brittany poses with her friends Courtney and Natilie after the ceremony.

Randy and Jon went to Watermellon Park on the Shenandoah river for a Father and Son's camp out.

Fishing is something Jon loves to do which is nice because there are several fishing ponds/rivers within minutes of our house.
Randy fishing on the Shenandoah.

Here is a picture of the Bass Jon caught that night.

Sadly, Randy didn't catch anything that time.
Grandma had lunch with Brittany and Jon while she was visiting us in Virginia.

Brittany had some art displayed at the local Mall.
Jon decided to start his birthday by going to breakfast at the local IHOP. We got there at 6:00 in the morning and had a great breakfast and then opened his presents. The Brittany and Jon even made it to school on time that day.
Brittany says "hi" as she gives Jon his present.
Some of the loot Jon got for his birthday on May 21, 2007

Brittany and I were able to run in the Round Hill Festival 5K. Two of Brittanys friends ran the race also.
Another part of the Round Hill Festival is the pie eating contest. Brittany and her friend Megan loved the chocolate cream pie.
Yummy!

Sadly, neither Brittany nor her friend Megan won the pie eating contest. Neither did the boy next to Brittany who had pie all over his face!
I thought it looked like fun so I joined in a contest also. The pie was good but I didn't win either.

Great Wolf Lodge & Brittany's 1st Young Women activity

Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg
April 13, 2007

Our Elementary school has a field trip for the 4th grade every year to Jamestown to help the students get a first hand view of VA history. Jamestown was the first permanent settlement in America. A few miles away is Williamsburg that has a part of the town that has been restored to the colonial period. The visitors can actually walk through the town and get an idea what it was like to live in the early 1600's. They have demonstrations of
nearly every aspect of life including wig making, book binding, basket weaving, millinery (dress making), black smith, etc. All the workers are dressed in the colonial attire.
The school always schedules the field trip on the last day of the semester so a teacher work day follows the field trip so the students don't have to go to school the following day. The students take a 3 hour bus ride down with buses that have TVs and bathrooms on them. Last year Brittany went on this field trip and we stayed at the Great Wolf Lodge. We had so much fun we decided to go again and spend the weekend in Williamsburg.

This year I took Brittany out of school after she took a test and she and I drove down to Williamsburg together. Randy's back has been hurting him so he decided the trip would be too much and decided to stay home.

Brittany and I picked up Jon after he finished the tour of Jamestown and we headed over to the Great Wolf Lodge which has in indoor water park inside the hotel.
Jon went swimming while Brittany got a hair wrap. We then ate something for dinner and spent the rest of the night at the water park.
The park has a wave that you can boogie board on like the one advertised on some of the cruise ships.

Above and below are pictures of Brittany and Jon swimming in the wave pool.

Brittany's First Young Women Activity
April 14, 2007

This is a picture of Brittany at a fund raiser sponsored by the Young Women of our ward to raise money for girls camp. Brittany was invited since she is going to girls camp this year even though she isn't 12 yet.
She is pictured here with one of her good friends, Megan.

The theme of the fund raiser was a sock hop. The young women got together and made the poodle skirts.

We came home early from our Jamestown/Williamsburg trip so we could go to the sock hop.
Since Randy's back was still hurting him I took Jon as my date. Randy put hair gel in Jon's hair and slicked it back.

Jon came in 3rd in the hula hoop contest.

Jon came in first in the bubble blowing contest. He was chewing 8 pieces of gum.

More pictures of Jon with his hair slicked back.

Jon said "I make this look-look good".

That's all the pictures for now.
Until next time,
Courtney

Easter Morning

Hello family and friends -

I've finally started our family website so you can follow what's been going on in our lives.

I thought I would start with the most recent event - Easter.

This is a picture of Randy video taping Brittany and Jon hunting for Easter eggs hidden by the the Easter Bunny.

Jon looking for the eggs.

The Easter Bunny is good at hiding those eggs.

Boy that Easter Bunny must be tall to hide the eggs way up here.

Brittany counting her loot.

Jon looking at the hidden treasures that are within the eggs.

Even our cat got involved in the festivities.

Brittany helped Randy make crapes for breakfast.

Our church meeting isn't until 2:30 so we had lots of time to relax. We played some games and had a nice day.

I will update the blog next week with our trip to Jamestown.
