Great Wolf Lodge & Brittany's 1st Young Women activity

Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg
April 13, 2007

Our Elementary school has a field trip for the 4th grade every year to Jamestown to help the students get a first hand view of VA history. Jamestown was the first permanent settlement in America. A few miles away is Williamsburg that has a part of the town that has been restored to the colonial period. The visitors can actually walk through the town and get an idea what it was like to live in the early 1600's. They have demonstrations of
nearly every aspect of life including wig making, book binding, basket weaving, millinery (dress making), black smith, etc. All the workers are dressed in the colonial attire.
The school always schedules the field trip on the last day of the semester so a teacher work day follows the field trip so the students don't have to go to school the following day. The students take a 3 hour bus ride down with buses that have TVs and bathrooms on them. Last year Brittany went on this field trip and we stayed at the Great Wolf Lodge. We had so much fun we decided to go again and spend the weekend in Williamsburg.

This year I took Brittany out of school after she took a test and she and I drove down to Williamsburg together. Randy's back has been hurting him so he decided the trip would be too much and decided to stay home.

Brittany and I picked up Jon after he finished the tour of Jamestown and we headed over to the Great Wolf Lodge which has in indoor water park inside the hotel.
Jon went swimming while Brittany got a hair wrap. We then ate something for dinner and spent the rest of the night at the water park.
The park has a wave that you can boogie board on like the one advertised on some of the cruise ships.

Above and below are pictures of Brittany and Jon swimming in the wave pool.

Brittany's First Young Women Activity
April 14, 2007

This is a picture of Brittany at a fund raiser sponsored by the Young Women of our ward to raise money for girls camp. Brittany was invited since she is going to girls camp this year even though she isn't 12 yet.
She is pictured here with one of her good friends, Megan.

The theme of the fund raiser was a sock hop. The young women got together and made the poodle skirts.

We came home early from our Jamestown/Williamsburg trip so we could go to the sock hop.
Since Randy's back was still hurting him I took Jon as my date. Randy put hair gel in Jon's hair and slicked it back.

Jon came in 3rd in the hula hoop contest.

Jon came in first in the bubble blowing contest. He was chewing 8 pieces of gum.

More pictures of Jon with his hair slicked back.

Jon said "I make this look-look good".

That's all the pictures for now.
Until next time,
Courtney
